The Melbourne University Netball Club has been in existence for over 25 years and has grown to be one of the largest sports clubs operating at the University of Melbourne. The Club’s main function is to organise for its members to play netball in various competitions, however the Club also hosts many events for fundraising and social purposes.
When first established MUNC could only cater for a few teams in the local competition. Since then, MUNC has grown to currently have more than 15 teams playing in the Parkville Netball Competition held at the State Netball and Hockey Centre. There are multiple teams registered in every section of the Parkville Competition, and we also have social and mixed netball teams who also play competitively. Most teams train weekly in addition to playing their game, and coaches are all well established netballers and professionals, who are hired by the club. Players are also afforded many opportunities such as attending the Australian University Games and Southern University Games. Membership As of 2008 Melbourne University Netball Club (MUNC) is the second largest sports club at the University of Melbourne. Currently MUNC has 200 members – a number which is growing rapidly each year. Additionally our membership consists of both men and women, from a variety of professional fields. Club Philosophy MUNC is a proud club and in addition to providing our members with the ability to play netball, we also have a philosophy of promoting health and fitness. Ultimately we play to win but we also pride ourselves on the fact that we are a respected club and play the game fairly and competitively. |
